Co-operative organisations in various parts of the world have organised tourist co-operatives. They originated in Europe early in the twentieth century and from there have spread to Asia and, to a lesser extent, to North America. Most tourism co-ops have been concerned with serving the travelling needs of members, elected leaders and employees of co-operative organisations.
